Mandela Effect 0.4.2

Early Access · Intel x86_64 Mac · macOS 14 or later · VST3 audio effect

Requires a compatible VST3 host and incoming audio. No standalone app, AU/AAX, Windows, Linux, Universal or native Apple Silicon build is included. Native version 0.4.2 is unchanged; this distribution is packaging revision privacy-r2.

Install

  1. Save your work and quit audio hosts normally before installing or removing the plugin.
  2. Extract the whole ZIP with Archive Utility and keep its files together.
  3. Open ZPSMandelaEffect Audition Installer.app through normal macOS controls. Its retained Audition Installer title belongs to the tested installer; it installs the Mandela Effect 0.4.2 payload in this package.
  4. Choose Install / Update. The guarded installer verifies the expected identity and payload, refuses loaded or unknown modified destinations, and keeps an update backup outside the plugin scan folder. It installs only the user-level ZPSMandelaEffect.vst3.
  5. Open your host, enable/rescan VST3 if needed, and load Mandela Effect. Start with quiet monitoring and your own audio; save a new test session before relying on it in production.

The bundles are locally ad-hoc signed, not Developer ID signed or notarized. Ordinary browser-downloaded GUI/Gatekeeper installation is not qualified. macOS may block the app. Keep normal OS security enabled; if blocked, stop and contact support. Do not remove quarantine, disable Gatekeeper or bypass security warnings.

Use

Start with Faithful Echo for the Feedback path, or Clean to Stutter followed by Slow Memory Collapse for Evolving. Echo Mode selects Feedback or Evolving, two alternative echo paths. Both sections stay visible; inactive controls retain their values and explain the dependency.

In Evolving, Long Time sets repeat spacing, Decay T60 controls recurrence decay, and Lifetime supplies an independent finite end. Clean Repeats keeps initial returns clear. Evolution increases later temporal damage. Temporal Type, Glitch Activity, Slice Size and Retriggers shape successive returns; Optional Color is a separate treatment. Requested values remain automatable even when source length or timing limits the effective event. The display reports actual history/event and slice counts. Admission Floor controls which new material enters history; it does not gate the direct path or existing echoes. Its minimum admits all nonzero input.

The Feedback Echo section retains Time, Feedback, Drift, Character, Damage, Movement and Tone. Feedback determines persistence; Drift/Damage and Character change successive returns. They are distinct from Mix and Output. Width affects wet stereo width from 0–200%; Stereo selects the existing routing. Hot input plus echoes can exceed full scale: reduce Output or Mix explicitly.

Sync, Division and Beat Grid use host timing when available and show free-time fallback otherwise. Pattern Seed accepts 0–65535. Clear History ends stored echoes. Bypass retains the existing direct-path/history policy. Presets/A/B hold settings, not echo history; clear history when comparing a fresh phrase. Save Preset, A/B, Copy to Other and 90%/100% views are on the single 29-control panel.

The clocks and central echo-field artwork are decorative. Only the separately labelled input/output traces, levels and history/event counters show measurements. Lifetime may intentionally finish before T60; the panel shows the actual ending taper.

Remove and restore

Save and close hosts normally. Open the same installer and choose Remove. It removes only verified matching files and preserves a backup; user presets remain. Reinstall with Install / Update when required. Keep the installer result and your download for recovery. If an unknown or modified installation is refused, contact support rather than deleting files manually. No developer audition Set, source packet or old private package is required for a fresh install.

Evidence and limitations

Zero added direct-path latency. Evolving has a finite Lifetime control (up to 120 seconds); the Feedback path retains its existing finite history policy. Clearing, bypass, timing fallback and current state behavior were covered by inherited native tests. Recorded Live automation playback, hardware/interface stress and screen-reader qualification have not been performed for this release package.

Focused offline tests on this exact privacy-clean payload cover native identity/defaults, state/A-B recall, sample-level audio parity, SDK validation and isolated installer behavior. Earlier native editor/CPU and scoped Live 11 evidence is inherited from the equivalent installed build, not a new Live or consumer-install test of this ZIP. Full hardware latency includes the host, interface and any surrounding chain. No broad host support, guaranteed performance or artistic acceptance is implied.

Privacy packaging and artwork

The distribution omits developer guides, saved sessions, captured audio, user presets and private machine metadata. Developer debug metadata and verified SDK diagnostic path prefixes were removed, then nested hashes and ad-hoc signatures regenerated. Executable instructions, plugin identities, defaults, DSP and artwork/resources are unchanged; audio and state parity are tested. This does not disable your ability to save your own settings.

The approved visual assets include AI-assisted artwork, integrated with native controls and real measurements. Original runtime art bytes, color information and any embedded provenance are preserved. No newly generated artwork or fabricated plugin activity is used in this release.

License and support

See LICENSE.txt and the unchanged third-party notices in notices/. No subscription or online plugin activation is required. Gumroad protects access to the purchased download; native activation is not enforced.
